To say it has been a strange and disappointing season for the MSU hockey team would be an understatement. Just less than two years ago, the Spartans hoisted their third NCAA national championship. Now, our boys are 6-16-3 overall, with a 3-9-2-2 record in the CCHA. That puts the Spartans in ninth place; two points behind Lake State and only stinkin’ point ahead of Bowling Green, Western, and Northern. The Spartans were 0 for November and until Friday, hadn’t won a CCHA game Halloween.
Yeah, that’s bad.
This season, UAFAlaska has been a surprise, the Nanooks are currently in third place and within three points of conference-leader Notre Dame. The secret behind the Nanooks success? This video:
Words cannot describe the sheer awesomeness of that video. A giant Space Bear blows up some random planet, gives a satellite a wicked slapshot, destroys the moon, lays waste to Anchorage and still has enough energy left to go to a hockey game; all to the tune of Highway to the Danger Zone.
Stephen Colbert was right. Bears just aren’t the number one threat to America, they’re apparently the number one threat to the galaxy.
